Houses of Character may date back to the 17th and 18th century and are found scattered throughout Malta and Gozo.

The majority of them still retain their original features such as arches, arched ceilings, patterned floor tiles, niches, thick walls, courtyards, flagstones, wooden beams and many more beautiful features.

They are normally situated more within the village. Whilst one can still find un-converted Houses of Character, most of them have been converted and may have nice gardens, internal courtyards and possibly equipped with both outdoor and indoor pools.
